Ondo: PDP to Take Next Step Against Ajayi in Days Ahead

Ondo: ‘PDP, Ajayi Will Take The Next Action In Few Days’ – Party Agent

PDP Accuses APC of Spent N35 Billion to Bribe Voters in Ondo Gubernatorial Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Collation Agent, Olaniyi Ogungbuji, has made a shocking claim that the All Progressives Congress (APC) spent over N35 billion to induce voters in the just-concluded Ondo State governorship election.

Ogungbuji made the allegation shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared APC’s candidate, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as the winner of the election.

The announcement was made by the Returning Officer, Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi, at exactly 2:29 p.m. on Sunday at INEC headquarters in Akure.

Governor Aiyedatiwa secured a landslide victory with 366,781 votes, defeating his closest rival, PDP’s Agboola Ajayi, who polled 117,845 votes. Adeyemi Nejo of the African Democratic Party (ADP) trailed with 4,138 votes.

Ogungbuji expressed his concerns about the election, stating that APC’s actions would have a negative impact on the country’s future. He also claimed that some polling units in Idanre Local Government Area did not hold elections, but his concerns were dismissed at the collation center.

The PDP agent hinted that the party’s candidate and leadership would decide on the next course of action in the coming days.

However, APC’s state agent, Ade Adeogun, dismissed the allegations, describing them as flippant excuses. He emphasized that without concrete evidence, the allegations were baseless and only a sign of the party’s loss.

Adeogun stated that if the PDP had any genuine evidence of vote buying, they would have reported it to the security agencies, and those involved would have been arrested. He urged the opposition party to accept their defeat and not resort to baseless allegations.

The APC agent also emphasized that the PDP has a right to grieve over their loss, just as a child has the right to mourn their failure in an examination. He suggested that the party should be given time to absorb their defeat before accepting the reality of their loss.
