Zamfara State’s chairmanship and councillorship election has ended with a sweeping victory for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with the exception of Birnin Magaji and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas, whose results will be announced on Sunday.
According to the results, announced by the Chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC), Hon. Bala Aliyu Gusau, the election was a resounding success, with all major parties present during the vote count and no objections raised.
In Gusau’s words, the election was “absolutely free, fair, credible, and peaceful”, with no political party objecting to the process.
The announcement means that the winners in the election will receive their certificates of return and be sworn in at the Government House on Sunday.
Gusau extended his gratitude to the security agencies and stakeholders, emphasizing that the commission received no reports of irregularities throughout the election.
The PDP’s dominant performance in the election reflects its strong roots in the state, leaving observers eager to see how the remaining LGAs fare. The final results are expected to provide a clear picture of the outcome in the remaining areas.
