Wike is a pawn in political gamesmanship

Wike Is A Tool For Political Agendas – Sule Lamido

Former Governor of Jigawa State and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has launched a scathing attack on FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, describing him as a pawn in the hands of political masters.

Lamido dismissed Wike’s influence within the PDP, arguing that his rise to prominence was a result of the positions he held, rather than any significant contributions he made to the party.

In an interview, Lamido emphasized that Wike’s relevance is closely tied to the offices he occupies, stating that once those positions are removed, he will be left without any political significance.

“Wike is not a political figure in his own right,” Lamido said. “He’s a character who is willing to be used for a specific purpose. If you look at the history of Nigeria and the rise of the PDP, Wike has played no significant role in shaping the party’s trajectory.” He continued, “It’s the office that speaks, not the personality. Wike has no political personality at all.” Instead, it is the power and influence of the positions he holds that give him the ability to control situations.

Lamido went on to compare Wike’s influence to that of other governors who have lost their office, stating that once the platform is removed, so too is their relevance in the political landscape. “Look at Ortom, for example,” he said. “He was important while he was governor, but now he’s an ordinary person. The same applies to Wike and other governors who have been used by APC to destabilize the PDP.”

Lamido believes that Wike’s continued relevance is a result of his current role as FCT Minister and the resources that come with it. “He is very lucky to be using the machinery of the government to stay relevant,” Lamido said. “Without that, he would be nothing. And soon, he will be a footnote in the history books.”
