Ex-Spokesperson Fires Back at Kwankwaso’s Claim of Lagos Colonization
Salisu Yakasai, former spokesperson to Abdullahi Ganduje, has responded to Rabiu Kwankwaso’s recent allegations that Lagos State is attempting to colonize and control other parts of the country.
According to Yakasai, Kwankwaso’s complaint about Lagos control stems from a lack of personal interest in the situation. He believes Kwankwaso is unhappy because he does not benefit from Lagos’s prominent position.
Kwankwaso had accused Lagos State of receiving more federal support than other states and accused Bola Tinubu of meddling in Kano State politics.
However, speaking on his Twitter account on Monday, Dawisu levelled a counter-accusation at Kwankwaso, claiming that in 2014, the former governor and what he called the “Lagos Axis” conspired to impose Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi on Kano State solely to spite then-President Goodluck Jonathan.
Yakasai pointed out that Kwankwaso and his allies had ignored the majority’s wishes in favor of Sanusi’s appointment. He alleged that the same “Lagos Axis” had promised to support Kwankwaso’s presidential ambitions in 2019 in exchange for his consent to the Emir’s appointment.
