Edo State House of Assembly to Resume Plenary Monday

A major development has taken place in the Edo State House of Assembly, with the clearance of Adams Oshiomhole, a nominee for the position of Health Commissioner, submitted by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

This decision was made following the house’s consideration of a report from the Committee on Rules, Business, and Government House, as well as a letter from the Governor dated November 13, which contained the name of the nominee.

In another significant development, the House approved a revised supplementary budget of N486 billion for the year 2024.

This total expenditure of N485,634,894,248.87 is intended to facilitate the continuous development of the state, as outlined in a letter from the Governor requesting the passage of the revised supplementary budget.

Before adjourning plenary to Tuesday, the Speaker, Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku, made a heartfelt appeal to the Edo State Police Commissioner to address the growing concerns of killings and violence in the state.

The appeal was prompted by a motion for adjournment moved by Hon. Nicholas Asonsere, representing Ikpoba-Okha Constituency, and seconded by Hon. Natasha Osawaru, representing Egor Constituency.
