Dabiri-Erewa Celebrates Miss Universe Africa And Oceania, Chidimma

NIDCOM Chairman/CEO Abike Dabiri-Erewa Celebrates Chidimma Adetshina’s Success at Miss Universe

Despite finishing as the first runner-up at the 73rd Miss Universe Competition in Mexico, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), praised Chidimma Adetshina’s courage, determination, and support from Nigeria as the key factors behind her success. Chidimma was also named Miss Africa and Oceania 2024.

In a congratulatory statement, Dabiri-Erewa highlighted Chidimma’s unwavering focus and dedication to her goals. She recalled Chidimma’s earlier withdrawal from the Miss South Africa 2024 contest and her subsequent warm reception in Nigeria, where she was hosted to a grand reception at Idris Olorunnibe’s ‘The Temple’, Victoria Island, with music legend Dbanj in attendance.

Dabiri-Erewa commended Chidimma’s spirit of Nigerianess, urging others to emulate her by being proud of their country and not running it down. She described Chidimma as brilliant, focused, and determined.

The Miss Universe competition celebrated the talents, intelligence, and elegance of women from around the world, with Nigeria coming second behind Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, who won the crown from Miss Universe 2023, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.

Chidimma’s journey to Miss Universe began when she was rejected by South Africa, who questioned her nationality. She then represented Taraba State and won the title of Miss Universe Nigeria organized by the Silverbird group.
