Niger State contractors given ultimatum: relocate to project sites or risk contract termination.

Move To Job Sites Or Face Termination Of Contracts – Umahi Issues Ultimatum To Niger State Contractors

Minister Threatens to Sack Contractors Handling Federal Road Projects in Niger State

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has given a stern warning to contractors handling federal road projects in Niger State, threatening to terminate their contracts if they fail to meet the deadline and deliver quality work.

Umahi made this statement during a meeting with stakeholders at the ministry headquarters in Abuja, where he expressed concern over the deplorable state of federal roads in the state. The meeting was attended by the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Bago, the Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, state assembly members, and the Senate Committee Chairman on Finance, Mohammed Sani, among others.

According to Umahi, some contractors handling federal roads in Niger State have been deliberately delaying projects despite receiving advance payments. He condemned this attitude, labeling the company in charge as a “failed contractor” and calling for immediate action to resolve the issue.

The minister emphasized that there will be consequences for contractors who fail to deliver quality work on time, as the current administration prioritizes speed, quality, and value for money. He gave a deadline for contractors to return to site and complete projects, warning that any contractor who fails to meet the deadline will have their contract terminated.

The 10 federal road projects in question include the 52km Agaje-Katcha-Baro road, dualization of Suleja – Lambata – Minna Road, and several other projects listed by the minister. Umahi urged contractors to prioritize quality and speed in order to meet the administration’s expectations.
