On International Men’s Day, Peter Obi Salutes Nigerian Men for their Resilience
As a Nigerian man himself, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi understands the hardships men face in providing for their families amidst the country’s economic struggles. In a statement on Tuesday, Obi commended Nigerian men and men worldwide for their perseverance and endurance.
Despite the challenges, Obi urged men to remain hopeful and strong in their duties, providing for and protecting their loved ones. In a heartfelt message, he wrote on the X platform: “Today, as we mark International Men’s Day, I want to celebrate the unwavering strength of Nigerian men and their selfless contributions to our nation’s growth.”
Obi acknowledged the difficulties men face in Nigeria, where they must contend with poverty, hunger, and poor healthcare. He noted that the average Nigerian man faces significant stress, with a life expectancy of just 55.1 years, compared to the global average of 70 years.
Despite these challenges, Obi offered a message of hope to Nigerian men: “Endure and persevere. Do not lose hope; hold on strong. We are all in this struggle together, and together, we shall build the New Nigeria we all desire and deserve.” He signed off with a simple “Happy International Men’s Day. -PO.”
