All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is leading in the ongoing Ondo State gubernatorial election, according to the latest results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Aiyedatiwa has garnered a significant number of votes, with a total of 301,113, leaving his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), far behind with 97,051 votes. The wide margin of 204,062 votes illustrates the APC’s dominance in the election so far.
The election results are still being collated, with three out of 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) yet to be declared final. The collation process is being overseen by Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Lokoja, who serves as the Returning Officer.
The LGAs where results have already been announced are:
Akure North
Aiyedatiwa’s APC secured 14,451 votes, while PDP received 5,787 votes. The number of registered voters in this LGA is 87,293, with 21,608 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 20,942.
Okitipupa LGA
The APC received 26,811 votes, while PDP received 10,233 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 126,021, with 38,814 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 37,597.
Ifedore LGA
The APC received 14,157 votes, while PDP received 5,897 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 83,831, with 21,024 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 20,998.
Ondo East
The APC received 8,163 votes, while PDP received 2,843 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 52,274, with 11,864 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 11,544.
Ile Oluji/Okeigbo LGA
The APC received 16,600 votes, while PDP received 4,442 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 81,954, with 22,256 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 21,995.
Idanre LGA
The APC received 9,114 votes, while PDP received 8,940 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 91,392, with 19,712 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 18,430.
Irele LGA
The APC received 17,117 votes, while PDP received 6,601 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 78,982, with 24,772 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 24,749.
Akoko Southwest LGA
The APC received 29,700 votes, while PDP received 5,517 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 11,638, with 36,300 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 35,700.
Owo LGA
The APC received 31,914 votes, while PDP received 4,740 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 143,751, with 38,340 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 38,317.
Ondo West LGA
The APC received 20,755 votes, while PDP received 6,387 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 19,666, with 31,416 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 31,382.
Akoko South-East LGA
The APC received 12,140 votes, while PDP received 2,692 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 41,978, with 15,150 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 15,148.
Akoko Northwest LGA
The APC received 25,010 votes, while PDP received 5,502 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 8,4908, with 3,1263 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 31,114.
Ose LGA
The APC received 16,555 votes, while PDP received 4,472 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 78,307, with 21,661 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 21,607.
Akure South LGA
The APC received 32,969 votes, while PDP received 17,926 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 314,709, with 54,670 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 52,991.
Akoko North-East LGA
The APC received 25,657 votes, while PDP received 5,072 votes. The total registered voters in this LGA is 93,285, with 31,734 accredited to vote. The total number of valid votes cast was 31,697.
