Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde Fires Back at APC Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje Over South-West Takeover Plans
Naijawebinfo reports that following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s declaration of the APC candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as the winner of the Ondo State governorship election, APC Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje made a bold statement about the party’s next target.
Ganduje claimed that the APC aims to achieve political homogeneity in the South-West geopolitical zone by displacing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Oyo and Osun states. He boasted that the party would do everything possible to achieve this goal.
However, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, through his Chief Press Secretary, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, dismissed Ganduje’s claims, stating that the government and the Oyo PDP would not surrender the state to the APC.
Olanrewaju also aligned with a statement by the acting Publicity Secretary of the Oyo PDP, Micheal Ogunsina, who condemned Ganduje’s takeover plot.
Ogunsina said it was unthinkable for the APC to believe that the people of Oyo State would abandon the “oasis of peace, ease, and good governance” under the Makinde government for “devastation, pain, sorrow, and tears.”
The Oyo PDP accused the APC of being more concerned with capturing states and snatching people’s joy than with easing the burden imposed on Nigerians through their alleged wrong policies.
The party questioned the difference between the APC’s actions and those of forest bandits, saying that the people of Oyo State are tired of a party that is progressive only in name.
The Oyo PDP urged Ganduje and his cohorts to stop plotting against God and the people, and rejected the curse from Ganduje and his APC.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the state’s freedom and good governance, and vowed not to surrender to the APC’s takeover plans.
The Oyo PDP also expressed its disappointment that the APC is more concerned with power and state capture than with repairing the damage it has done to the economy and the finances of the people.
