A Controversial Photo of Peter Obi and MC Oluomo Sparks Debate Online
MC Oluomo, the newly sworn-in president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), has been making headlines recently. And a photo of him with Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has taken social media by storm.
The image, which has been widely shared on WhatsApp, shows Obi standing beside Oluomo, dressed in a traditional white robe. The caption accompanying the photo suggests that Obi is willing to work with Oluomo in his new role.
However, an investigation by TheCable has raised doubts about the authenticity of the photo. A reverse image search revealed that the outfit worn by Oluomo in the picture is identical to the one he wore on the day he assumed office as NURTW president.
Further checks by TheCable found that no reputable media outlet had reported the news, and the Instagram page of Goldmynetv, the source of the photo, showed no record of the post.
A forensic analysis of the image using a digital photo forensic tool found inconsistencies in the details of Obi’s clothing. The objects in the original picture had white detailing, suggesting that the photo may have been photoshopped. The inconsistent color on the Instagram page further raises suspicions about its authenticity.
