Patrick Vieira Appointed Manager Of Serie A Club

Patrick Vieira Takes the Helm at Genoa

French football legend Patrick Vieira is returning to the dugout, appointed as the new head coach of Genoa, following the departure of Alberto Gilardino.

Vieira’s most recent managerial stint was with Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, where he led the team to a 12th-place finish last season before departing by mutual consent due to differing opinions on player recruitment and staff selections.

Genoa’s recent performance has been underwhelming, with only two wins in their first 12 Serie A matches under Gilardino’s guidance. The team has suffered six defeats in that period, highlighting the need for a fresh approach to turn their fortunes around.

Vieira’s managerial experience spans several top-tier clubs, including Manchester City’s development squad, New York City FC, Nice, and Crystal Palace. During his time at Crystal Palace, he implemented an attractive playing style, despite facing adversity, including a prolonged period without a win that ultimately led to his departure.

Vieira’s first match in charge of Genoa will be against Cagliari on Sunday, providing him with the opportunity to make a swift impact and steer the team towards improved results.
