Nollywood Actress Abimbola Craig: Marriage is an Illusion

Abimbola Craig, a renowned Nollywood actress, has sparked controversy with her latest statement on marriage. She made the assertion during an interview with Chude Jideonwo on the ‘WithChude’ podcast.

Abimbola expressed her discontent with traditional marital roles, where women are often expected to manage the household and cater to their partners. She jokingly referred to the title “Mrs” as an acronym for “Master’s in Residential Servicing”, highlighting the imbalance in these relationships.

Not one to shy away from her true feelings, Abimbola revealed that she has chosen to remain single because she values a partner with self-awareness and purpose. She believes that anyone who lacks these qualities cannot be a suitable partner for her.

In her own words, Abimbola stated: “Marriage is an illusion. When I was growing up, my mum would tell me that marriage is an institution. And when they call you ‘Mrs’, it’s short for ‘Master’s in Residential Servicing’.” She added, “I’m not married because I don’t want to be, but if you’re a man who doesn’t know who he is, you can’t be with me.”

Abimbola is best known for her iconic role as ‘Tiwalade’ in the hit web series ‘Skinny Girl in Transit’. Additionally, she has made her mark as a producer, co-producing the 2019 box office hit ‘Sugar Rush’ alongside renowned filmmaker Jade Osiberu.

Her bold statement has certainly generated a lot of attention, and it will be interesting to see how it resonates with her fans and the wider public.
