Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, Commends Edo Queens for Their Tenacious Performance in the CAF Women’s Champions League
Despite a 3-1 defeat to Congo’s TP Mazembe in the semi-finals, Obaseki praised the Nigerian team’s unwavering spirit and teamwork throughout the tournament.
In a statement released by his media aide, Crusoe Osagie, Obaseki acknowledged the team’s valiant effort, saying, “Although the outcome wasn’t what we had hoped for, the match showcased the unyielding determination and team cohesion of our queens. They gave it their all on the field, and we’re proud of their performance.”
Obaseki expressed optimism about the team’s prospects in the third-place playoff against Egyptian Masar Women FC, scheduled for Friday. He noted, “Their journey to the semi-finals is a testament to their capabilities, and with a bit of luck, we could have been vying for a spot in the finals.”
Obaseki highlighted the team’s talent, saying, “I’m proud of the progress the girls have made and the strength of our squad. Their performance has demonstrated significant potential for future success in the league. I firmly believe that we’re on the right path, and I look forward to the day when we’ll lift the trophy.”
