PDP Won’t Fade Away, We’re More Mature Than APC

PDP Will Not Die, We Are More Matured Than APC – Showunmi

Ogun State’s former PDP governorship candidate, Segun Showunmi, has emphatically stated that the opposition party will not fade away and is better equipped to handle governance issues than the ruling APC.

A recent appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today has Showunmi dismissing the notion that the PDP is struggling to fulfill its role as an opposition party.

He criticized the APC’s approach to opposition politics before taking power, arguing that it’s unrealistic to expect the PDP to undermine Nigeria’s image in the same way.

Showunmi clarified that playing opposition involves offering alternative viewpoints to the ruling party’s policies, which the PDP does. He emphasized that opposition shouldn’t involve spreading falsehoods or making the country ungovernable.

“Can you really think that the nonsense the APC was peddling, constantly mobilizing people in the streets, embarrassing the country, and refusing the previous administration the means to combat insecurity, is how to run a country?” Showunmi asked.

“We’re far more mature than them because we understand what it means to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and reputation. That’s why we don’t go out of our way to demarket the country like they did,” he added.

In his ongoing bid to become the party’s national chairman, Showunmi assured that despite the current leadership crisis, the PDP will never cease to exist.

“The PDP is not a party that dies easily. We didn’t die when Obasanjo tore his card, we didn’t die when Jonathan stepped down, and we won’t die now. The PDP is indestructible,” Showunmi declared.
