LeBron James Takes a Break from Social Media to Escape “Negative” Media Coverage
NBA superstar LeBron James recently announced that he’s putting his social media accounts on hold, citing concerns about the overwhelming negativity in US media. The decision came after a poignant post from Rich Kleiman, agent of NBA star Kevin Durant.
Kleiman’s thought-provoking statement lamented the prevalence of negativity in media, saying it’s counterproductive to only focus on negative takes in sports reporting. James was deeply moved by these sentiments, and shared the post with an enthusiastic “Amen!”
The 39-year-old star then confirmed his decision to step away from social media, stating “I’ll holla at y’all! Getting off social media for the time being. Take care.” This move isn’t entirely new for James, as he has previously taken a break to focus on his basketball career.
During a recent discussion about the Lakers’ thrilling win over Utah, James shared his frustration with online criticism. When acknowledging rookie Dalton Knecht’s exceptional performance, he joked that people online tend to misinterpret his comments, leading him to remark, “Everybody on the internet calls me a liar all the time. So what am I now? I’ve been said it. I watched him. I watched Tennessee a lot.”
