Casualties reported in Shawu village, Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State, following a Nigerian Air Force bombing
Naijawebinfo has learned that a tragic incident occurred on Thursday morning in Shawu village, Ruwan Godiya district, Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State, after the Nigerian Air Force conducted an airstrike in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, the bombing was meant to target bandits, but it mistakenly hit the community, resulting in multiple casualties.
Salihu Bamle Bakatsine, a local resident, took to social media to share the devastating news, stating that several people were killed and many others injured in the bombing.
However, the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security, Nasiru Mu’azu, disputed the claim that the bombing was accidental, saying that it was a precision strike targeting terrorists, not civilians.
He explained that the Nigerian military is highly professional in its operations, carrying out surveillance and coordinating with targets before striking.
According to Mu’azu, Shawu village has become notorious for harboring bandits and other forms of terrorists, which is why the area was targeted.
Faskari Local Government Council Chairman, Musa Ado Faskari, described the incident as unfortunate, reporting four deaths and many others still being treated for injuries.
Ado Faskari said that the airstrike was precise because bandits had infiltrated the community and that the majority of good people had already left the area due to the presence of bandits.
He emphasized that the incident was not unexpected, as kidnappings for ransom often originated from Shawu village.
As the situation continues to unfold, the exact number of wounded is still being determined.
