Christian Music Composer Dr. Jude Nnam Released After Being Held Captive for Nearly a Week
Dr. Jude Nnam, a renowned Christian music composer and director, has been reunited with his family and community after being held captive for nearly a week. The 6 p.m. kidnapping on Thursday evening in Umunnachi, Anambra State, had sparked widespread concern and prayers from the Christian community.
The news of his release brought relief to those who had been following his story. A statement on Nnam’s Facebook page announced his return, saying “The victory sound is here. Our dear ‘Ancestor’ Dr.(Sir) Jude Nnam is back to continue the work of the Lord!!!”
A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Augustine Mario, had initially shared the news of Nnam’s abduction on his Facebook page, calling for prayers for his safe return. Earlier, Nnam’s family had refuted false social media reports claiming his release, describing them as misleading.
Nnam, also known as “Ancestor,” is a respected figure in Christian circles for his contributions to liturgical music and his role in the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). His abduction had sparked a massive outcry, with many calling for his immediate release.
