Two Super Falcons Stars Nominated for Prestigious CAF Award
Super Falcons players Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiamaka Nnadozie have made history by earning nominations for the 2024 CAF Women’s Player of the Year award. Their exceptional performances this season have placed them among the top eight contenders for the prestigious prize.
Both Ajibade and Nnadozie showcased their skills on the world stage during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where they were crucial members of the Super Falcons squad. Their club form has also been impressive, with Ajibade playing a key role in Atletico Madrid’s successful 2023-2024 season, helping the team secure a third-place finish in the Spanish Primera División.
Nnadozie, meanwhile, has been a standout performer for Paris FC in France, playing a vital role in the team’s qualification for the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Her impressive skills were recognized at the 2023 CAF Awards, where she was named the Best Goalkeeper.
In the men’s category, Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman is considered the top contender for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award. As the only Nigerian player among the final five nominees, Lookman’s impressive hat-trick in the 2023-2024 Europa League final helped Atalanta win the coveted title.
