PDP South-West Slams APC National Chairman Over Threat to ‘Take Over’ Osun and Oyo States
Naijawebinfo recently reported that APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje made a bold statement, claiming that Osun and Oyo states are the next targets in the South-West geopolitical zone. Ganduje reportedly said that his party will do whatever it takes to bring these states into its fold, effectively gaining more political influence in the region.
The PDP South-West Executive Council has reacted strongly to Ganduje’s statement, urging President Bola Tinubu to rein in his national chairman. In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti, Zonal Publicity Secretary Sanya Atofarati emphasized that Ganduje’s threat is a clear attempt to manipulate the electoral process in Ekiti, Osun, and Oyo states, using APC’s notorious tactics of rigging.
Atofarati questioned Ganduje’s moral authority to speak on matters of credibility and democracy, stressing that the APC national chairman lacks the necessary credibility to make such statements. The PDP also expressed disappointment with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the poor conduct of the Ondo governorship election.
The party highlighted several issues with the election, including defects in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System and delays in the arrival of election materials in certain areas. PDP called on the Inspector General of Police to investigate claims of misconduct by security personnel during the election and ensure that those responsible face justice.
The PDP extended its gratitude to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and the party’s national leadership for their support before, during, and after the Ondo election. The party urged its members to remain law-abiding despite alleged intimidation and assured that it would explore all legal avenues to seek justice.
