PDP Under Siege as Reps Member Accuses Top Officials of Betrayal
Imo Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives, has vehemently criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman and Secretary, Iliya Damagum and Samuel Anyanwu, respectively, for their alleged secret meetings with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
The PDP lawmaker representing Ideato North and South Constituency of Imo State is warning that these clandestine meetings may bring about the demise of the party. He has urged PDP stakeholders to rally together to prevent this disastrous outcome.
In a recent social media post, Ugochinyere demanded the immediate removal of Damagum-led executive and warned of the devastating consequences if these “outlaws” continue to run the party.
“When the national chairman and secretary of a political party surreptitiously collude with the ruling government, it’s clear that ruin awaits the party unless decisive action is taken to uproot these treacherous elements,” Ugochinyere wrote.
He accused Damagum and Anyanwu of secretly abandoning the party’s principles to gain personal benefits, predicting that if this continues, the party will meet a similar fate to that of the Association of Nigeria Progressives (ANPP) and Alliance for Democracy (AD).
The reported cancellation of PDP’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting has further fueled concerns among party members. Sources have linked the cancellation to pressure from the North Central caucus, which demanded that Damagum withdraw his aspirations for the party’s national chairmanship position.
