Kunle Afolayan: Actor and Producer Finally Bursts the Hatch on His Long-Running Feud with Brother, Aremu Afolayan
After years of acrimony, popular Nigerian actor and movie producer, Kunle Afolayan, has at last put the lid on his long-standing feud with his brother, Aremu Afolayan. This development comes as a welcome surprise, considering the tumultuous history between the two siblings.
The brothers, sons of the late legendary filmmaker and theatre icon, Ade Love, had been embroiled in a bitter dispute that gained widespread media attention in 2018. The trouble began when Aremu, in a heated interview, claimed that their father lived in poverty despite his fame, which prompted Kunle to lambast his brother, labeling him “stupid.”
However, it seems that the dust has finally settled, as the brothers finally put their differences aside during the wake-keep ceremony for their beloved mother in Oyo State, November 22, 2024.
At the emotional event, Kunle delivered a stark message, making it clear that, in his eyes, their familial bond was far more significant than their sibling rivalry. He proclaimed, “To everyone who’s been through this with Aremu, what I want you to know is that I am not his brother; I am his father. I trained him, and I am 10 years older than him, but you, his female friends, have encouraged him. But love conquers all.”
Not to be outdone, Aremu apologised to Kunle for putting him through the ordeal, expressing his gratitude for their mother’s tireless efforts to bring them together. He publicly acknowledged his faults, saying, “My greatest joy today is that my mother made us talk. She didn’t stop praying, knowing I was the black sheep in the family. I disagree with my brother Kunle; he has no excuses because, as they say, we resemble each other. I’m truly sorry for putting brother Kunle through the Instagram backlash. It’s because I love you.”
