Nigerians Abroad in Finland Fear Over Detention of Separatist Leader Ekpa

Nigerians In Finland Panic Over Arrest Of IPOB Leader Simon Ekpa

Shock and Fears in Finnish Nigerian Community Over Arrest of Separatist Leader, Simon Ekpa

The arrest of Simon Ekpa, a prominent figure in the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Finland, has sent shockwaves of fear through the Nigerian community in the country. Ekpa, known for his controversial views and inflammatory rhetoric, has long been associated with the group’s secessionist agenda.

Many Nigerians in Finland are too afraid to comment on his arrest due to the fear of reprisal attacks. “The Igbo community in Finland is deeply shaken by the actions of IPOB,” said a community leader, who chose to remain anonymous. “As a result, few people are willing to speak out or lend their voices to the issue.”

The constant threat of violence has forced some Nigerians to go into hiding, with one individual revealing that they have been accused of reporting Ekpa to the police and are now living in fear. “The accused person is now being targeted, and it’s only a matter of time before it gets worse if Ekpa is imprisoned,” the source said. “The situation is extremely tense, and many people are hesitant to speak out for fear of being hunted by Ekpa’s followers.”

Another resident, who also wished to remain anonymous, concurred that there is a palpable sense of unease among the Nigerian community in Finland. “Few people dare to speak out about Ekpa, as they are afraid of being hunted by his followers. We believe that they will track down anyone who dares to speak out against their leader. However, the Finnish Government is actively working to resolve the situation and restore peace.”
