Part of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorate is gathered in Jos, Plateau State, for an intensive roundtable discussion on vital matters of governance that touch not just the party but also national concerns.
This high-level forum will also scrutinize the recent gubernatorial elections in Edo and Ondo states, where the PDP faced setbacks.
Bala Mohammed, chairman of the meeting and governor of Bauchi State, emphasized the PDP’s unwavering commitment to delivering impactful governance to the people during his opening remarks.
In his speech, Mohammed stressed the importance of party unity and touted the PDP as a resilient force that offers hope to Nigerians through effective governance, welcoming the opportunity to address their needs.
“We have chosen Jos, a symbol of unity and inclusivity, as the venue for our gathering, and I extend a warm welcome to our esteemed guests,” said Mohammed. “The PDP is a single entity, united and strong despite the occasional setbacks. We are determined to work together, fostering cooperation among our various organs and leaders to offer the best possible governance for Nigerians.”
In his address, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde echoed this sentiment, reaffirming the commitment of PDP governors to reform and rejuvenate the party, emphasizing their desire to regain their position of leadership within the country.
The meeting was attended by governors from Zamfara, Oyo, Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Plateau states, with delegates from Delta and Enugu states also present. Regrettably, some governors, including those from Osun, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa, did not participate.
Notable figures in attendance at the evening gala included Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa, Governor Kefas Agbu of Taraba, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, as well as Deputy Governors from Bayelsa, Enugu, and Plateau states.
According to Naijawebinfo, this gathering saw the participation of key stakeholders, including PDP Acting National Chairman Iliya Damagum, Senator Jonah David Jang, former Governor of Plateau State, as well as Ahmed Makarfi, former Governor of Kaduna State, and Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, former Governor of Niger State. Other notable attendees included Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, chairman of the PDP Ministers’ Forum.
