Six Ebonyi Health Workers Arrested Over Alleged Theft Of State Property

Shocking Discovery: Six Ebonyi State Ministry of Health Employees Arrested for Stealing Government Property

A Saturday night sting operation at the Ebonyi State Ministry of Health led to the arrest of six employees who were caught trying to steal government property for personal gain.

The shocking discovery was made public in a press statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, on Sunday.

The statement revealed that the governor has ordered the immediate prosecution of the suspects, who are accused of sabotaging the state’s efforts to improve the healthcare sector.

In a strongly worded statement, the governor condemned the act, saying it was a serious betrayal of public trust.

“I’ve dedicated more than N6 billion to purchasing equipment for primary healthcare centers and general hospitals,” the governor said. “But what do I see? This is what I see – the very people responsible for storing and managing these equipment, selling them without approval on a Saturday afternoon.”

The governor lamented that the stolen items, including registers, data entry forms, and hospital cards, were desperately needed by rural hospitals. “Our rural hospitals are crying out for these essential items, and yet, it’s our own employees who are selling them on the black market,” the governor lamented.

The suspects are currently in police custody as part of a further investigation into the matter.
