Former Labour Party Director-General, Doyin Okupe, Extols President Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s Best Prepared Leader
In a recent interview with Vanguard, Okupe dismissed critics who questioned his support for Tinubu, stating that his backing is rooted in principle, not personal gain.
According to Okupe, those who assume his support for Tinubu is driven by personal interests are misinformed. He emphasized that he has always stood for fairness and justice, even when it means going against his own interests.
Okupe revealed that he has a longstanding acquaintance with Tinubu, dating back to their days in NADECO. Despite being on opposite sides of the political spectrum, they have maintained a personal relationship.
Okupe shared that he recently met with Tinubu, after a long hiatus, and was impressed by the president’s qualities. He praised Tinubu’s ability to think critically and develop policies that benefit the masses.
Okupe compared Tinubu’s leadership skills to those of the late Obafemi Awolowo, describing both as reformers who prioritize public welfare. He dismissed claims that Tinubu assumed office without a plan, asserting that no Nigerian president has been better prepared for governance.
Okupe, who has worked with two past presidents, stated that he has seen firsthand the level of preparedness Tinubu brings to the table. He praised Tinubu’s ability to think critically and develop policies that benefit the masses, saying that he is unmatched among Nigerian presidents since 1960.
