PDP Governors Decry Economic Hardship, Urge Tinubu To Review Fiscal Policies

PDP Governors Express Concern Over Economic Hardship, Call for Policy Reforms under Buhari’s Administration

A recent meeting of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum in Jos, Plateau State, saw the governors express deep concerns over the economic hardship caused by the policies of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government.

The forum, chaired by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, called for President Bola Tinubu to reassess Nigeria’s macroeconomic and fiscal decisions, prioritizing the welfare and well-being of Nigerians.

The governors lamented the impact of recent reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira, on the average Nigerian citizen. According to Mohammed, “We empathize with the suffering masses who are bearing the brunt of the economic hardship.”
The PDP governors urged the president to reconsider policies, voicing their commitment to implementing measures that would reduce hardship and foster progress in their respective states.

The meeting also touched on the recent governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states, with the governors labeling the outcomes as a “rape of democracy.” They called for the judiciary to remain impartial in election petition matters and urged the National Assembly to strengthen electoral laws to prevent future infractions.
