Despite not being included in the 20-player squad for the upcoming friendly match against France, Super Falcons’ interim head coach Justine Madugu has emphasized the crucial role that Asisat Oshoala continues to play in the team.
Asisat Oshoala, who is currently playing for Bay FC, was left out of the team’s recent friendly matches against Algeria, and the latest squad announcement for the upcoming match against France on Sunday. However, the reason for her absence is not performance-based, but rather tied to a specific documentation issue.
According to Madugu, Oshoala is dealing with a paperwork problem in the United States, where she is based, which is causing delays in her ability to travel and rejoin the team. Madugu explained that Oshoala’s visa and work permit have expired, and she is currently working on resolving the issue.
“From my perspective, Asisat Oshoala is an essential member of the Super Falcons and a valuable player for us,” Madugu stated. “Unfortunately, she is currently going through a challenging period due to her documentation problems in the United States. Her inability to travel is a direct result of this ongoing issue, and not a reflection of her skills or contributions to the team.”
The Super Falcons will take on France in Angers on Saturday, and coach Madugu has expressed her commitment to ensuring that Oshoala can rejoin the team once her documentation is in order.
