Police Foil Kidnap Attempt, Rescue 14 in Katsina State
Yesterday evening, a daring kidnapping attempt was thwarted by the Katsina State Police Command, resulting in the rescue of 14 individuals.
The incident occurred in Dan’arau village, located along the Magama-Jibia Road in the Jibia local government area of Katsina State. According to reports, a group of armed bandits attacked two commercial vehicles, firing shots and attempting to abduct the passengers.
In response to a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer of Jibia LGA led a team of police officers to the scene, engaging the bandits in a fierce gun battle. The bravery and quick thinking of the officers prevented the kidnapping and successfully rescued the 14 individuals.
Unfortunately, two of the rescued victims suffered gunshot wounds and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Regrettably, one of the victims did not survive treatment.
The police are actively pursuing the fleeing bandits, and an investigation is underway to gather more information about the incident.
Katsina State’s Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar, commended the officers for their exceptional courage and commitment to their duties. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the progress made in combating crime and encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities to the Police promptly. The Commissioner reaffirmed the State’s Police Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting the safety and security of its residents, reaffirming their vigilance against criminal activities.
