Labour Party Rep, Thaddeus Attah, Sparks Outrage with Tinubu-Linked Symbol on Social Media
Thaddeus Attah, the newly elected representative of the Eti-Osa federal constituency in Lagos for the Labour Party, has caused a stir on social media with his latest post. The image shows him wearing a cap adorned with a symbol associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Attah, who won the February 2023 election with 24,075 votes, defeating Bankole Wellington of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). However, his opponent challenged the result at the tribunal, leading to a supplementary poll in 32 polling units. The appeal court later upheld Attah’s victory in November 2023.
However, Attah’s recent social media post has sparked curiosity and speculation about his political allegiance. He captioned the image: “Putting on Tinubu cap. Ire ooh. What pains most is the people’s sacrifices, time, resources, sweat and tears and blood put together to elect these guys voluntarily.”
Many users have questioned his motives, with some opining that he may be trying to curry favor with the APC leadership. One user wrote: “Obidients/Eluuuu-P in Lagos rejected a sound guy like Banky-W because he is PDP, and opted for this Thaddeus Attah, to Represent Eti OSA Federal Constituency. Na Oga wear Tinubu cap so. Opposition tilo ni yen. This is purely labouring in vain.”
Another user noted: “Without LP he wouldn’t have been there but he forgot that what goes up must come down. It’s not how far but how well.”
Some users have expressed skepticism about Attah’s loyalty, with one writing: “What do you expect? He just an opportunist like you said. He would play the normal politics to retain his seat, but will still not get the APC ticket & would return to the sympathetic appeal for vote from Obidients. For me, my vote from now on is candidate-based, not party-based.”
