Lagos APC Dashes Speculations on 2027 Governorship Election
Speculations surrounding the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State have been causing a stir, with some individuals being rumored as potential aspirants. However, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from these speculations, emphasizing that it will focus on its current goals rather than engage in premature discussions about the future.
According to Seye Oladejo, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, the party’s attention is currently focused on achieving significant milestones, and unnecessary politicking will only serve to create unnecessary tension in the polity.
Oladejo stressed that there is no rift within the party, denying rumors of any conflicts between notable figures such as Seyi Tinubu, Mudashiru Obasa, or other potential aspirants. He attributed the ongoing drama to attempts by opposition parties to create controversy and fuel public sentiment.
The party has announced its priority is on upcoming congresses and local government elections in 2025, urging its members to prioritize unity and progress.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Philip Aivoji, rejected allegations of the party’s involvement in the alleged endorsements. When asked about Oladejo’s claims that opposition parties were fuelling the controversy, Aivoji denied any involvement, saying, “I am not behind it. Anyone behind such evil against Lagos State is on his own.”
