Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo scored a remarkable double in Al-Nassr’s 3-1 win over Al-Gharafa in the AFC Champions League on Monday, earning praise from none other than tech mogul Elon Musk.
The match, held at the Al Bayt Stadium, saw Al-Nassr enter the game in third place in Group B. The first half ended goalless, but Ronaldo’s powerful finish in the 46th minute got the scoring underway.
The Portuguese forward was back on the scoresheet just 12 minutes later, courtesy of a clever one-two play with Otavio. Ronaldo sealed his brace in the 64th minute, extending Al-Nassr’s lead.
Although Al-Gharafa managed to reduce the deficit with a late goal from Joselu, it was too little, too late. Ronaldo’s double took his remarkable career tally to 913 goals for club and country, cementing his status as the all-time highest goalscorer in football history.
Ronaldo celebrated his win with a post on social media, captioning his photos, “Big win tonight!” Musk responded with a simple “Congrats!” to acknowledge the star player’s achievement.
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand also joined in the praise, posting a GOAT emoji on a photo of Ronaldo celebrating one of his goals. The emoji is a nod to Ronaldo’s monumental impact on the game.
