PDP Suspends Bauchi Lawmaker Over Allegations of Insubordination
A reliable source within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has revealed that Habibu Umar, the member representing Kirfi local government in the state House of Assembly, has been suspended from the party.
The reason behind Umar’s suspension is said to be his alleged connection with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. However, party officials have also cited insubordination as the motive for the lawmaker’s suspension.
A letter issued by the party’s state chairman, Sama’ila Burga, to the state House of Assembly speaker, Abubakar Sulaiman, confirmed the suspension. The letter states that Umar was found guilty of insubordination after an investigation by a Disciplinary Committee.
The letter reveals that Umar was formally issued a query on November 5, 2024, for violating provisions of the party’s constitution. The report was submitted by his ward, Beni, and signed by the entire Executive Committee (Exco).
The Disciplinary Committee was constituted on November 11, 2024, to investigate the allegations against Umar. Following its investigation, the committee concluded that the lawmaker was guilty of insubordination and recommended his suspension with immediate effect.
As a result, the party has imposed a suspension on Umar, effective November 25, 2024. This means he is prohibited from participating in any party activity pending further developments.
