Former Arsenal Defender Suggests Replacing Kai Havertz with Victor Osimhen to Boost Premier League Chances
William Gallas, a former Arsenal player, believes that the team’s chances of winning the Premier League title will increase if they consider replacing Kai Havertz with Victor Osimhen.
Gallas notes that Mikel Arteta has faced criticism for signing Havertz in the summer of 2023, considering the need for a natural center-forward. While Havertz initially struggled to adapt, he has since become an essential part of the Gunners’ attack, making 68 appearances and scoring 21 goals.
Although Havertz started the 2024-2025 season strongly, scoring four goals in his first seven Premier League matches, his goal drought has now stretched to four league games.
Gallas, who had a four-year stint with Arsenal, recommends exploring the option of bringing in Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasary from Napoli, to strengthen the team’s attack.
Gallas stated, “While Kai Havertz is a skilled player, I believe Arsenal could benefit from a more traditional striker to help achieve Premier League success. Victor Osimhen has demonstrated his ability to perform at the highest level during his time at Napoli and has the potential to thrive in the Premier League, offering great value to Arsenal’s squad.”
Gallas further emphasized, “To consistently compete, it’s crucial for a club like Arsenal to build a strong squad with competitiveness and depth. The ability to interchange players, like teams like Manchester City and Liverpool, can stifle competition levels. Having quality players capable of stepping up is vital for maintaining a high standard throughout the season.”
