**Edo PDP Lambasts Okpebholo’s Government over Attacks on Stella Obasanjo Hospital**
The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken strong issue with the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, and the State’s Commissioner for Health, Cyril Oshiomhole, over their recent attacks on the Stella Obasanjo Hospital. The party believes that their actions lack moral standing and are motivated by petty politics.
In a statement, the Publicity Secretary of the Edo PDP Caretaker Committee, Chris Osa Nehikhare, expressed disappointment and disbelief at the Okpebholo-led government’s attempts to undermine the hospital’s reputation. “It’s laughable that someone as instrumental as Cyril Oshiomhole’s father, Adams Oshiomhole, could spearhead the construction of the Edo Specialist Hospital, which was later found to be structurally defective, claim to criticize the standards of another hospital like Stella Obasanjo.”
Nehikhare further emphasized that the demands for an investigation into the hospital’s standards were insincere and driven by personal political agendas. “It’s a desperate attempt to discredit the hospital, which has become a vital part of the state’s healthcare system under the previous administration of Pastor Godwin Obaseki.”
He also pointed out the hypocrisy of Cyril Oshiomhole, whose father was responsible for the construction of the Edo Specialist Hospital, where a section collapsed, resulting in the loss of life. “It’s staggering that someone with such a record should now question the standards of a hospital where no similar incidents have occurred. They lack any moral authority to do so.”
The PDP also recalled how Adams Oshiomhole’s administration had previously commissioned the Edo Specialist Hospital, only to leave it incomplete, with its foundation laid bare. “Does it not strain credulity that someone from such a lineage would now dare criticize a functional, world-class hospital like Stella Obasanjo?”
In conclusion, the PDP dismissed the Okpebholo-led government’s attempts as petty, infantile, and ultimately futile. They remained confident that the Stella Obasanjo Hospital would continue to thrive, providing top-notch healthcare services to the people of Edo State.
