APGA Leader Njoku Responds to Supreme Court Ruling on Leadership Crisis

APGA Leadership Crisis: Njoku Reacts To Supreme Court Ruling

Former APGA Chairman Edozie Njoku Accepts Supreme Court’s Verdict, Hails Judiciary’s Integrity

After a protracted leadership dispute, Chief Edozie Njoku has accepted the Supreme Court’s judgment, which revoked his position as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). The ruling, delivered on Wednesday, has seen Sylvester Ezeokenwa emerge as the legitimate national chairman of the party.

In a earlier judgment, the Federal High Court in Abuja had restrained Njoku from presenting himself as APGA’s chairman, stating that no valid court order recognized his leadership. The court also ruled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) erred in acknowledging Njoku’s faction.

Unsatisfied with the decision, Njoku had appealed the ruling to the Supreme Court, which ultimately dismissed his case, deeming it frivolous and imposing a fine of ₦20 million for each of the three charges.

In a press conference in Abuja, Njoku emphasized his commitment to the rule of law, recognizing the importance of respecting the Supreme Court’s decision. He stressed the need for obedience to the judicial hierarchy in Nigeria, citing the importance of upholding the rule of law and maintaining a country of law and order.

“We must learn to accept the decisions of the Supreme Court, even when they go against us. It’s crucial for our nation’s progress and stability,” Njoku said. “As a democrat, I believe in the will of the people, and I’m confident that they will make their voices heard in the next election.”

Njoku also commended the people of Anambra for their peaceful acceptance of the judgment, while expressing his dedication to ensuring peace within APGA and the country. He reaffirmed his commitment to democracy and unity, reiterating his pledge to respect the outcome of the forthcoming Anambra election.

Njoku acknowledged INEC Chairman Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, despite past criticisms from his faction. He expressed hope that the resolution of the legal dispute would enable APGA to focus on its internal democracy and future progress.
