Nathan Tella, a 25-year-old winger with a strong desire to contribute to Nigeria’s football team, the Super Eagles, has expressed his eagerness to once again don the national jersey. His latest ambition stems from his last appearance in November 2023, during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
At the time, Tella, who had joined Bayer Leverkusen after leaving Burnley, was handed his maiden call-up and made a memorable debut in a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe. However, since that notable game, he has not been recalled to represent Nigeria, a development that has only strengthened his resolve to prove himself worthy of a return.
In an exclusive interview with OmaSports TV, Tella candidly shared his thoughts on representing his country. “To wear the national team’s colors is a great honor, but I realize that I must maintain exceptional form at my club to earn recognition and a spot in the national squad,” he underscored.
To reiterate his commitment to self-improvement, Tella emphasized the importance of constant progress and development. “To get back into the national setup, I need to continually improve my game, push the boundaries every day, and if I keep making the right moves, I can remain hopeful that Nigeria will give me another opportunity to represent the team,” Tella explained.
