:

Ndume lashed out at critics who accused him of being ignorant for opposing the President’s tax reform bills.

In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, the senator, who has a 20-year background in teaching, emphasized that his educational credentials give him a solid foundation to engage in national issues.

According to him, people often misjudge him because he is from Borno State and dons traditional attire, Agbada. Despite earning a degree in both Nigeria and the United States, some individuals still view him as ignorant.

Recalling his experiences, Ndume said, “As a 65-year-old individual, who had left the university in Nigeria and then completed his studies in the United States, because of my Agbada and my being from Borno State, some ignorant people still call me illustrous.

While teaching at polytechnics for two decades, I had the pleasure of watching students come and go. Two of my daughters, I have happily married to Yoruba men.

The senator’s opposition to the tax reform bills attracted intense debate and a heated exchange on the Senate floor last Thursday, with Ndume, in particular, worrying about the ill timing of the introduced bills, given the prevailing perception of the administration.
