Barcelona’s Coach Hansi Flick Gives Update on Injured Winger Lamine Yamal
Barcelona’s 17-year-old winger Lamine Yamal is finally back on the training pitch after a three-week absence due to an ankle injury. Yamal’s impressive performances this season have garnered attention, and his return is a significant boost for the team.
The youngster’s last appearance was in early November, and his absence has been felt, with the team managing only one point from the two La Liga matches he missed. Flick is thrilled to have Yamal back and is considering him for a role in Saturday’s critical match against Las Palmas.
“Lamine Yamal is back in training, and he’s ready to contribute to the team,” Flick said. “We’re still evaluating our options, so we haven’t decided whether he’ll start, but he’ll definitely play a part in this game.”
This season, Yamal has made a massive impact, scoring six goals and providing eight assists in just 16 appearances across all competitions. His talent has made him one of Spain’s most promising young players.
Barcelona have struggled without Yamal, failing to win in the three La Liga matches he didn’t start, including a tough 4-2 defeat to Osasuna in September. The team’s current lead in the league is under pressure, as they have played one match more than Real Madrid, their closest rivals.
Yamal was also ruled out of Tuesday’s convincing 3-0 Champions League victory against Brest, watching from the sidelines as his teammates took all three points.
In addition to Yamal’s update, Flick also provided an update on Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo, who is nearing full fitness after undergoing surgery in July to repair a hamstring injury sustained during the Copa America.
The return of both Yamal and Araujo is crucial for Barcelona as they aim to maintain their position at the top of the league and progress in European competition.
