Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Warns of Plans to Ruin Christmas
During the launch of the 2025 armed forces remembrance emblem appeal fund in Port Harcourt last Thursday, the Governor expressed concerns that some individuals were plotting to ruin Christmas in Rivers State.
This warning comes on the heels of a court order blocking financial allocations to the state government from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Despite these challenges, the Governor has vowed to continue prioritizing the interests of the people, emphasizing that his government is meeting its obligations to the citizens. He reiterated that he will do everything in his power to protect the state from “those who perpetually plot to create chaos and disrepute among the populace.”
In his words, “Some persons who have chosen to be adversaries of this state wish for a black Christmas. However, we are resolute in ensuring that the interests of Rivers State are at the forefront of our decision-making, and we have successfully met our obligations as a government.
As a testament to our commitment, our civil servants are now jubilating with higher salaries, from N70,000 to N120,000 and N140,000 in some cases. This, to me, is the greatest joy any government can achieve – the happiness we leave in the hearts of the people.
