APGA Tells APC to Focus Elsewhere, Claims Lacking Political Structure in Anambra State
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has rejected the ambition of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to win elections in Anambra State, saying it lacks the political structure to succeed.
This warning came after APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje called on party loyalists to bring Anambra into the APC fold, starting with the 2025 governorship election. APGA responded by highlighting that APC has no elected officials or structure in the state.
APGA National Chairman Sly Ezeokenwa made this point during a press briefing, saying APC is not a political party that exists in Anambra State. He added that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s second term is already secured following the Supreme Court judgment affirming APGA’s leadership.
Mob in Onitsha Takes Law into Their Hands, Sets Revenue Agents Ablaze
In a separate incident, a mob in Onitsha, Anambra State, set two men, who were allegedly revenue touts working for the state government, ablaze after they were involved in a fatal accident.
The incident occurred on Old Market Road along Venn Road by Egerton in Onitsha. According to eyewitnesses, the men were chasing a tipper driver over a disputed payment when the vehicle lost control and rammed into an innocent bystander, killing him instantly.
A video circulating online showed the mob beating and setting the two revenue agents on fire. A trader in the area said, “The people of Onitsha are fed up with the senseless killings caused by these revenue touts. We cannot continue to lose our loved ones in such a manner.”
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the police responded swiftly to bring the situation under control and are working to determine the circumstances of the incident.
