NNPCL Urges Upstream Stakeholders to Prioritize Governance, Transparency, and Efficiency

Recently, the Executive Vice President of Upstream at NNPCL, Mr. Udobong Ntia, emphasized the need for upstream stakeholders in the Nigerian oil and gas industry to focus on strengthening their corporate governance, transparency, and efficiency.

Ntia made this call during the “Enhancing Governance, Risk, and Compliance in Nigeria’s Upstream Sector” workshop, which took place in Lagos and featured presentations from industry leaders and representatives from regulatory bodies.

In his opening remarks, Ntia highlighted the importance of effective governance, risk management, and compliance in achieving the core values of NNPCL, including Integrity, Excellence, and Sustainability. He commended the initiative’s upstream leadership and regulators for their support in promoting open discussions on issues impacting individual and collective success in the industry.

NNPCL expressed its commitment to providing support and resources that would expedite the implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing governance, risk management, and compliance in the upstream sector. The workshop attracted representatives from various industry regulators, such as the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, as well as over 20 upstream operators from International Oil Companies operating in Nigeria.
