Osun PDP Dismisses NNPP’s Plans to Unseat Governor Adeleke
According to reports, the Osun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly rejected the notion that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) can oust Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 2026 gubernatorial election.
During the inauguration of the NNPP’s offices in Ila, Boripe, and Ifelodun local government areas, the state’s NNPP Chairman, Tosin Odeyemi, expressed confidence in his party’s chances of securing victory. He attributed this optimism to the perceived shortcomings of the incumbent administration and the economic challenges faced by the country.
Odeyemi emphasized that the NNPP is poised to capitalize on the federal government’s difficulties and the limited capacity of the PDP administration in Osun to improve governance, stating, “We believe that the current economic hardship is damaging the APC at the federal level, and our party’s performance will be the best solution.”
The NNPP leader entreated party members to remain committed and assured them of a bright future for the party in Osun State.
However, the PDP’s Director of Media and Publicity, Oladele Bamiji, dismissed the NNPP’s claims as baseless, suggesting that the opposition was merely trying to appease their supporters.
Bamiji contended, “The NNPP is simply trying to placate their sponsors. It’s unrealistic to think they can stop the re-election of a successful and performing governor like Senator Ademola Adeleke. The people of Osun won’t allow anyone to hinder the progress the state is currently making.”
