Davido’s Rise to Global Fame: A Privilege and a Blessing
Nigerian musician and producer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently shared his remarkable journey during the “Elevate Africa” event. He opened up about the immense opportunities his music career has brought not only to himself but also to his loved ones.
Among the many doors his music has opened is access to influential figures. According to Davido, he has established connections with a staggering number of world leaders, boasting that he has the phone numbers of at least 14 country presidents.
“My music has given me the opportunity to connect with numerous people and organizations,” he explained. “We’ve had invitations to meet presidents and heads of state in various countries, and that’s indeed a privilege and a blessing.”
When asked about his family’s background, Davido revealed that his view diverged from the traditional path. Instead of following in his family’s footsteps, he chose to forge his own path. “In my family, it’s a requirement to attend school and then join a company,” he shared. “But I refused to follow that path. I knew that I wanted to do things differently.”
Taking a non-traditional route was met with resistance initially, with his own father not fully understanding the direction he wanted to take. However, Davido’s determination eventually paid off, and now he’s proud of the life he’s built. “My parents didn’t know it would be this lit for me,” he said with a smile, chuckling at the reality of his success.
