A Disturbing Social Media Video Raises Questions, NAFDAC Speaks Out
A viral video showing individuals destroying packs of sachet water at factories and public buses has sparked widespread concern. In response, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a statement, denying any involvement in the incident.
According to NAFDAC, the actions depicted in the video do not align with its protocols for enforcement. In a social media post, the agency clarified that the individuals shown are not its officials and do not belong to its investigation and enforcement team.
NAFDAC also emphasized that halting vehicles to destroy products is unprofessional and contravenes its standard operating procedures. The agency’s prompt followed concerns that the video might have led to confusion about the agency’s role and actions.

In related news, Naijawebinfo previously reported that the Lagos State Government has dismissed rumors that it plans to ban the production and sale of sachet water in the state.
Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, made this clarification in a statement released on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday.
The commissioner reiterated that the government, under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration, is committed to addressing plastic waste through sustainable and inclusive measures, rather than imposing bans.
Wahab referenced an Engagement Workshop organized by the ministry on October 3, 2024, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat plastic pollution.
