APC Chieftain Vows to Withhold Support for Tinubu in 2027 Elections
A high-ranking leader in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jesutega Onokpasa, has issued a stern warning that he and many of his loyal party members may not support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. This decision is rooted in the president’s recent appointment of individuals who have publicly insulted them.
According to Onokpasa, these appointments are a direct insult to those who actively supported Tinubu’s presidential bid in the 2023 elections. He believes that the president is showing a blatant disregard for the loyalty and dedication of those who helped him secure the top office.
Onokpasa made these comments during a recent interview with Arise News, where he expressed his outrage over the appointment of Daniel Bwala as a media aide to President Tinubu. He believes this move is a clear demonstration of the president’s lack of respect for party members and their contributions to his success.
“I won’t support Tinubu in 2027 unless he reverses his stance and shows respect for our party members and treats us with dignity,” said Onokpasa. “He needs to understand that we made him president, and it’s essential he reciprocates that loyalty.”
Onokpasa also took issue with the president’s decision to appoint individuals who have publicly displayed disrespect, even hurling insults, such as calling him a drug dealer without proof. “Is the president trying to justify these statements, or is he simply dismissing the sentiments of his own party members?” he asked.
The APC chieftain emphasized that if President Tinubu continues to disregard the values and loyalty of his party members, he and his supporters will not be able to back him in the next election.
“This is not about personal ambition; it’s about the party. Tinubu doesn’t own the party; we all formed it together,” Onokpasa stressed. “If the president doesn’t change his approach, we will have to reconsider our support for him in the future.”
