Davido Credits His Father’s Guidance for Keeping Him Faithful in the Face of Adversity
In a recent podcast interview with Rollingout, Nigerian singer Davido opened up about the importance of faith in his life, crediting his father, Adedeji Adeleke, for instilling in him a sense of trust in God.
Growing up in a Christian household, Davido was raised with strong religious values, which had a profound impact on his life. He shared that his father’s teachings about having faith in God have been a constant source of motivation and inspiration, even in the midst of challenges.
Davido recalled how his father’s wisdom helped him navigate difficult times, including the loss of his son, Ifeanyi. He shared that his father’s guidance taught him to never question God’s plans, a lesson that has been invaluable in his life.
“My dad is a successful businessman, but he’s also a devout Christian,” Davido explained. “I grew up attending the Seventh-day Adventist Church and even attended a Christian college. My dad’s influence had a profound impact on my life, and I owe a lot of my success to him.”
Davido also shared how his father’s words of wisdom helped him find perspective during a particularly challenging period in his life. “I used to get angry and question God’s plans,” he said. “But my dad would tell me that you can’t question God. It took me a while to understand, but eventually, I came to realize that God has a plan for everyone, and it’s up to us to trust in Him.”
Today, Davido credits his father’s guidance for helping him stay faithful and focused, even in the face of adversity. “People go through different challenges, but just know that God has your back,” he said. “I’ve experienced that firsthand, and it’s a feeling that’s hard to describe.”
