How Use Of Controversy As Strategy Almost Killed Me – Timaya Recounts

Timaya Blasts Eedris Abdulkareem: Talking too Much Led to Lack of Respect

Recently, prominent Afrobeats artist, Timaya, shared his candid thoughts about his industry peer, Eedris Abdulkareem. During a Naija FM, Lagos interview, Timaya weighed in on why Abdulkareem isn’t as respected among music industry peers.

The conversation centered around Timaya’s perception of his public persona being similar to Abdulkareem’s, with a radio host likening their strong characters to being afraid of starting a fight.

Disagreeing with the sentiment, Timaya emphasized: “I’m not one for idle chit-chat, and neither do I adopt an air of condescension like Eedris. I believe Eedris’ talkativeness is what has left him unremarked – nobody wants to engage him in conversations. I opt for respect by being responsible, as it naturally evokes respect from others.” Timaya underlined.

Elaborating on his connections with Abdulkareem, Timaya revealed he has always viewed their connection as more like mentor-disciple rather than a genuinely built friendship: “Initially, our connection was built around mentorship, though it didn’t amount to a deeper connection. What mattered to him was a temporary assistant to further his success – after all, that was a means for me to grow. To avoid being a mere accessory, it’s essential for individuals serving a higher role to maintain familial relationships while being prepared for any untoward occurrences, as is the unpredictable nature of fate.” He expressed.
