Residents Express Fear As Bandits Plant Explosives In Zamfara

Concerns Mount as Bandits Wreak Havoc in Dansadau Emirate, Zamfara State

A recent attack by armed bandits in Dansadau Emirate, under the Maru local government area in Zamfara State, has left residents on edge. The groups’ use of explosives marks a significant escalation in their violent activities in the region.

Bello Dansadau, a resident of the area, spoke to Channels TV about the Sunday attack, which involved the detonation of an explosive device along the Dansadau-Yar Galadima highway. According to him, the objective was to prevent troops and local vigilantes stationed in Dansadau Town from assisting the villagers.

The vehicle carrying the explosive device was hit, causing it to detonate, killing the driver and completely destroying the vehicle. The only occupant was the driver, who lost his life in the attack.

According to Dansadau, this aggressive new tactic by the bandits is cause for concern. “This is the first time we’ve experienced this type of attack. The bandits deployed explosives, making it a major problematic issue,” he emphasized.
