Abuja Soldiers Nabbed for Fraudulent Purchases

Police Arrest ‘Soldiers’ In Abuja After Purchasing Goods With Fake Alerts

Impersonators and Criminals Busted in FCT

Naijawebinfo is reporting that two suspects, Emmanuel Linus and Moses Daniel, have been arrested by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for posing as Nigerian Army officers. According to Commissioner Tunji Disu, Linus was found dressed in a full Nigerian Army camouflage uniform on November 30, 2024, at around 2:00 p.m.

Linus initially presented a fake military identification card with a birthdate of December 20, 2024, which raised suspicions. It was discovered that this group of criminals purchases goods and services using fake bank alerts, defrauding sellers. The police have launched a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate.

Disu also announced that the use of fake bank alerts, vehicles without number plates, and tinted glasses will not be tolerated. In response, a total of 296 vehicles were impounded for violating these regulations. He expressed pride in the progress made by the Special Tactical Team, highlighting the recent success in curbing these violations.

Additionally, Disu revealed that two suspects were arrested for vandalizing streetlight poles behind the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and stealing cables. One of the suspects is a dismissed police officer, and the recovered cables were valued at over 20 million naira.

A swift operation was launched after surveillance revealed suspicious activity around manholes in the area. On November 29, 2024, at 3:49 a.m., a distress call reported the vandalism of streetlight poles behind the Foreign Affairs Office in Abuja. Two suspects, Awal Mustaf and David Maji (a dismissed police officer), were apprehended, and stolen streetlight cables, valued between 20 and 25 million naira, were recovered. The items seized included two medium-sized streetlight poles, several large streetlight poles, and cables.

Both suspects are currently in custody and undergoing a comprehensive investigation.
